Dr. Liliana Kovačeva was born in 1960. in Kyutendil. She graduated from the specialty “School Pedagogy” at “Heofit Pilchki” University – Blagoevpad. In addition, for 15 years she was a teacher at “Ivan Bazov” in Kyustendil and for 4 years she was a deputy dean at the same school. Active participation in the maintenance and implementation of protective measures aimed at victims and beneficiaries of ethnic minorities.
Specialization “Intercultural Dialogue” at the University of Amsterdam, “Helping Civil Organizations in Central and Eastern Europe” at the Institute of “Open Society” Budapest, “India – ancestral home of Romа in Europe” in Delhi, India. Works as an expert in the National Council on ethnic and demographic issues in the Ministries Council.
In 2000, her first book appeared – “The mind knows the way”. From 2002 to 2007 works as a “Mother-tongue teacher” in the Ministry of Education. During this period, she participated in the working group for the preparation of educational programs in the native roma language and to the Council of Europe for the development of the Roma language portfolio. In 2007 was appointed as the chief expert at the Center for the protective integration of children and children from ethnic minorities, where from 2011 to 2015 fulfills the duty of “Director”.
In 2015, he defended his dissertation at the Institute for Ethnology and Folklore at the Ethnopafic Museum at BAH. Participation in international forums, seminars and conferences related to roma culture and identity.
She is the author of a series of publications on the care of roma children. One of her most popular books is “The Holy World. The national-circular system of Roma in Central Western Bulgaria”.In her latest book “Family Kovachevi”, Dr. Liliana Kovacheva follows the path of her family.
